BOD Spotlight: Lon Welsh

Lon Welsh has been serving on the RMHC-Denver Board for four years, bringing both business expertise and a big heart for helping kids. As Founder of Ironton Capital, Lon knows the value of investing in strong communities—and he invests his time in the kitchen too, cooking meals for families alongside his wife, who also volunteers at the House.

Q: How long have you been a board member?
A: 4 years

Q: Why did you choose to be involved with RMHC-Denver?
A: I’ve always been passionate about helping kids here in Denver, and RMHC felt like a meaningful way to make an impact close to home.

Q: Can you share a memorable experience or achievement during your time on the board?
A: Cooking meals for the families has been one of the most enjoyable parts of my time on the board. It’s simple, hands-on and always appreciated.

Q: What is your title and what company do you work for?
A: Founder, Ironton Capital

Q: Please describe your role and what your company does.
A: I’m the owner of Ironton Capital, a private equity fund that helps investors diversify into commercial real estate. We aim to deliver better returns with less volatility than the stock market.

Q: What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
A: Skiing, golf, tennis, travel, cooking and great wine.

Q: What would you like others to know about you?
A: I’m married with three grown kids, all living here in Denver. My wife, a retired internal medicine physician, was actively looking for meaningful volunteer work when she retired and now she volunteers at RMHC-Denver by joining me to cook meals. She’s also a talented pianist and comes regularly to play for families at the Denver House.
