RMHC-Denver Board Member Matt & family
Matt Baker brings a thoughtful, mission‑driven perspective to our Board of Directors, blending his love for family, travel and Colorado with a deep commitment to supporting families who rely on RMHC‑Denver.

Q: How long have you been a board member?

I’ve been on the board for two years, and the experience has been deeply meaningful.

Q: Why did you choose to be involved with RMHC-Denver?

My nephew’s cancer battle changed my perspective on what families need during a health crisis. As complex as that cancer battle was, the simple things—family support, a place to rest and good meals—made a tremendous impact that gave them relief and support. Years later, I participated in preparing a meal for families at the Denver House and was eager to get formally involved.

Q: Can you share a memorable experience or achievement during your time on the board?

I’ve been continually impressed by the dedication of our board members, especially those who spend their days in healthcare and still give their time. I’m also amazed by the strength and grace of the families who stay in the House, and I believe the support we provide gives them some of that strength.

Q: Why does keeping families close to care matter to you?

The support that a child receives during a health crisis is most valuable from family. Healthcare provides the solutions, but it’s the presence of parents and the comfort of familiar support that gives a child the strength they need.

Q: What perspective or experience do you bring to the Board?

My nephew’s cancer battle shaped my perspective, and the support his family needed during that time aligns closely with RMHC-Denver’s mission. My wife and I are also foster parents, which gives me a fresh appreciation for pediatric care and the support surrounding it. I aim to leverage my personal and corporate connections. I serve on a sub‑committee and volunteer through the meal program.

Q: What is your role professionally?

I am a Solutions Sales Executive with Apex Systems. I work with several clients to provide a variety of IT Services.

Q: What do you enjoy most about being part of the RMHC-Denver community?

I appreciate the fresh perspective I gain every time I leave one of the Houses and seeing firsthand how consistently RMHC-Denver impacts families in our community. Serving on the board has shown me how tirelessly the organization works to support families and remove barriers, and I value being part of a mission with such clear and lasting impact.

Q: How do you like to spend your free time?

I love spending time with my family and traveling. With two young boys, life is fun and busy, and like many Coloradans I enjoy skiing, golfing and cheering on the Denver Broncos.
